President Dr Arif Alvi has summoned both the Houses of the Parliament on Thursday (September 12) to address lawmakers at the start of new parliamentary year. The President also summoned the session of the National Assembly on Friday (September 13). Every new parliamentary year of the National Assembly starts with the address of the President of Pakistan to lawmakers of both the House of the Parliament.

According to Article 56 (3) of the Constitution, "At the commencement of the first session after each general election to the National Assembly and at the commencement of the first session of each year the President shall address both Houses assembled together and inform the Majlis-e-Shoora (Parliament) of the causes of its summons."
